The Ancestors Of Shree
Vallabhacharyaji |
| |
 |
There is yet one more miraculous occurrence connected with his
birth. The diety
of
Shrinathji
had
come
slowly
out
of
the
Govardhan
Parvat
(Shri
Girirajji).
Through
the
decades
it
had
made
its
appearance.
First
had
appeared
the
left
hand,
which
people
had
worshipped
as
the
hood
of
a
cobra.
On
the
day
of
Shri
Vallabhacharyaji’s
birth,
the
face
of
the
deity,
the
Mukharvind,
came
out
of
the
ground.
Years
later
when
Shri
Vallabhacharyaji
went
there,
the
whole
deity
came
up. |
|
| |
|
Shri
Laxmana
Bhatt
finally
settled
in
Prayag.
As
the
child
grew,
he
astounded
everyone
with
his
superhuman
powers.
He
had
no
interest
in
the
games
of
children.
His
all-consuming
passion
was
for
Shri
Krishna.
Once
a
cow
belonging
to
their
family
fell
seriously
ill.
Shri
Vallabhacharyaji
told
his
crying
parents
that
death
was
inevitable
and
whatever
God
gave
to
us
–
happiness
or
pain
–
should
be
accepted
with
calm.
He
touched
the
cow
and
the
cow
immediately
recovered.
Such
were
the
miraculous
powers
of
Shri
Vallabhacharyaji. |
|
His
Yagyopavit
ritual
was
done
when
he
was
eight
(Vikram
Samvat
1543
Chaitra
Shukla
Navami). |
|
His
father
took
him
to
Benaras
to
study.
He
had
a
brilliant
mind
and
very
quickly
he
acquired
mastery
over
the
Bhagvata,
the
Vedas,
Puranas
and
Shashtras.
He
was
very
eloquent
and
began
to
preach
the
philosophy
of
the
Gita
and
the
Bhagvata.
The
pandits
called
him
Bala
Saraswati
and
Vakpati.
Unfortunately
some
pandits
got
jealous
of
him
and
started
harassing
him.
When
his
father
got
to
know
of
this,
he
sent
him
to
the
South.
Here
he
was
taught
the
scriptures
of
the
Shaiva
and
Vaishnava
faith.
|
|
His
guru
told
him
to
preach
the
gospel
of
love
and
bhakti
to
all.
Shri
Vallabhacharyaji
began
to
tour
India
.
He
wrote
about
the
society
of
his
times
in
his
Krishnashraya
Grantha.
He
found
that
the
priests
were
laying
great
stress
on
rites
and
bodily
mortification.
The
common
people
were
confused
and
had
no
idea
about
how
to
attain
moksha.
He
decided
to
help
people
by
writing
about
the
true
meaning
of
religion. |
|
Whatever
Shri
Vallabhacharya
had
seen
on
his
three-year
tour
of
India
made
him
terribly
unhappy.
God
then
appeared
before
him
and
gave
him
the
mantra
of
Brahm
Sambandha.
He
initiated
Damodardas
Harsani
with
the
Brahm
Sambandh
Mantra.
Thus
Damodardasji
became
the
very
first
Pushti
Margiya
Vaishnav
to
receive
the
BRAHM
SAMBANDH
DIKSHA.
The
mantra
would
help
human
beings
to
surrender
themselves
completely
to
Krishna
.
Mahaprabhuji
began
his
travels
again
to
spread
the
cult
of
Bhakti.
He
preached
about
the
love
of
God
and
the
beauty
of
a
life
devoted
to
Him.
His
great
kindness
to
all
living
beings
served
as
an
example
to
people
wherever
he
went. |
|
 |
Shri
Vallabhacharyaji
states
in
one
of
his
works
that
Lord
Krishna
asked
him
twice
to
leave
the
world.
He
could
not
obey
Him,
however,
because
he
felt
that
his
mission
was
not
yet
complete.
He
travelled
three
times
through
the
whole
of
India
to
spread
God’s
word.
Finally
he
settled
in
Adel,
a
small
village
close
to
Allahabad
.
There
he
completed
his
literary
works.
The
Lord
asked
him
once
again
to
take
samadhi.
Heeding
His
call,
Shri
Mahaprabhuji
began
to
make
preparations.
His
period
of
Sanyas
lasted
two
months.
He
went
to
Kashi where he went into complete silence. He also stopped taking food. |
|
His
sons,
Gopinathji
and
Vitthalnathji,
and
his
devotees,
mainly
Damodardasji,
served
him
to
the
end.
When
they
saw
that
he
was
on
the
point
of
leaving
them,
they
asked
him
to
guide
them
about
their
future
work.
Since
Vallabhacharyaji
had
taken
the
vow
of
silence,
he
wrote
down
some
verses
in
Sanskrit.
In
these
he
emphasises
the
need
of
devotion
to
Shri
Krishna.
These
verses
remain
a
source
of
inspiration
to
the
followers
of
Shri
Mahaprabhuji
to
this
day. |
|
|
Shri
Vallabhacharyaji
entered
the
waters
of
the
sacred
Ganges
.
A
brilliant
flame
rose
from
the
river
and
took
him
up
into
the
sky. |
|
It
is
said
that
Lord
Krishna
then
came
to
the
sons
and
the
devotees
of
Mahaprabhuji
who
were
mourning
his
loss.
He
told
them
that
He
would
always
be
by
their
side
to
help
them.
Shri
Krishna’s
words
and
the
example
of
Shri
Vallabhacharyaji’s
life,
were
an
inspiration
to
those
left
behind.
They
took
up
the
work
of
Mahaprabhuji
and
spread
his
message
through
years
to
come.
In
the
celebration
of
the
philosophy
of
the
Pushti
Marg,
the
living
presence
of
Shri
Vallabhacharyaji
can
still
be
felt. |
